Minutes of Steering Committee
Austin Convocation of Cursillo
Diocese of Texas
January 16, 2000 @ Christ Church, Cedar Park

Steve opened with prayer.

In attendance were: Steve Ryder, St. Matthew's; Colette Foyt, St. Barnabas; Joe Nanus, St. George's, Anne Browne, St. Richard's; Helen Paulsen, Resurrection; Dyke Miller, St. Matthew's; Fr George Wilson, and Judy Judy, Christ Church.

Next Ultreya is February 27, sponsored by St. Matthew's at Steck and Mesa. Please encourage your community to attend.

Colette presented the Treasurer's report and the budget for the year 2000. The report for 1999 reflects a comfortable cash balance. Some items discussed regarding the budget for 2000: Joe moved that a line item for $150.00 be added for postage. This will change the Expense line item to $875.00. There will not be an Austin team presenting Cursillo this year. A motion to approve the treasurer's report was made and seconded, the motion carried.

Steve passed a list round to the committee to verify addresses and contacts. Steve mentioned that we would be able to send email to members of the Steering Committee.

The minutes from the last meeting were distributed and approved. Steve commented that he did not call the list.

Steve is going to update the information in the sponsorship responsibility letter and distribute to all the Cursillo contacts on the email list. Steve mentioned that as a sponsor you get a reduced room rate at Camp Allen.

There is no sponsor for the March Ultreya. Next Cursillo is February 17 - 20. Steve asked that we include Father Joeseph Spitler to our prayer list as he continues the stressful job of Registrar.

Joe Nanus gave a report on the Secretariat Meeting. He mentioned that Marvin Garza is the North West Convocation Lay Director elect. The elections will take place at the upcoming Diocesan Council. Some highlights of the Secretariat meeting: if you have wine for the agape, other than sacramental wine, you have to purchase it at Camp Allen, as Camp Allen has a liquor license now. When you are planning the Closing communion music and offertory music you are encouraged to get in touch with the organist at Camp Allen so the songs can be put on power point.

Joe reported that Keith Short announced that in mid October year 2001 there will be a National Episcopal Community Seminar at Camp Allen and if you are interested in helping with any aspect to let Joe know.

Joe also announced that an editor is needed for the newsletter for our convocation. There has not been an editor since cursillo #159. If you feel led to take this on, please contact Joe.

It was discussed that a lot of people still do not have email and that mail out is still necessary, some discussion about getting our information in the Episcopalian.

Meeting adjourned.

Respectfully submitted,

Helen Paulsen, secretary
