Minutes of Steering Committee
Austin Convocation of Cursillo
Diocese of Texas
17 January 1999

The meeting of the Steering Committee of the Cursillo Movement in the Austin Convocation of the Diocese of Texas was called to order by the convener, Steve Ryder at 6:09 p.m. The first act of the group was to begin deliberations with prayer.

Steve announced that a secretary for the Steering Committee is needed. Joe Nanus volunteered to do the minutes this time only.

Motion was made and seconded to accept the minutes of the November 1998 meeting of the Steering Committee as distributed. Motion passed.

Joe Nanus reported on happenings at the Secretariat meeting the previous day. Joe's report consisted of the following points:

Collett Foyt distributed the Treasurer's report. Some discussion was generated about indicating "in kind" contributions on the report for future budget considerations. Motion was made and seconded to accept the Treasurer's report with "in kind" contributions to be indicated. Motion passed.

Collett presented a proposed budget. After several friendly amendments to the proposal, a motion was made and seconded to approve the budget for 1999 as amended. Motion passed.

Joe Nanus offered the following information to the group and asked their aid: On February 27, 1999, the South Central Region* of the National Episcopal Cursillo will hold a conference for all Cursillistas in the South Central Region who care to attend. The program for the conference is still in development but it will include group reunion, probably an Ultreya, information sessions on the care of the Movement and the theory of the Movement plus time for fellowship. The meeting will be at the Episcopal Theological Seminary of the Southwest located in Austin. More information will be shared as it develops. If you or members of your parish would be able to house out of town attendees for the meeting, please call Joe Nanus at 926-8317. Leave word on the answering device if Joe is out.

*[The South Central Region covers the Dioceses of Western Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Western Missouri, Kansas, Western Kansas, all dioceses in Texas and the Diocese of the Rio Grande which covers almost all of New Mexico.]

A motion was made and seconded to formally amend the Ultreya Guidelines to:

Motion passed. Peggy Ryder was authorized to make these changes in the Guidelines and put new copies in the box for the hosting parish.

In closing, Steve reminded us that the February closing is to be the last at St. Peter's, Brenham.

The meeting was adjourned with prayer.
