Guadalupe Herrera, Jr.

Guadalupe Herrera, Jr., age 40, was called home to the Lord on Sunday, December 9th, 2001 after a year long battle with leukemia.  Guadalupe was born August 11, 1961 in Austin, Texas to Guadalupe and Maria Herrera.  His father Guadalupe Herrera, Sr, predeceased him.  He is survived by his wife Jo Ann Herrera, his children Guadalupe Herrera III, Nicole Herrera, Angelita Herrera and Estrella Herrera; grandchildren Alexis Herrera and Amber Herrera; his mother, Maria Herrera and stepfather Charlie Gutierez, brother John, sisters Nancy and husband, Carlos Santos Ruiz, Letty Perez, Rose Mary Herrera, and Marisol Gutierez.  His aunt Maria Guadalupe and husband, Casmiro Joe Castillo were like second parents, and his cousins George and wife, Audrey Castillo, and Anna and husband, Adrian Tovar were like bother and sister.  He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. 

Guadalupe openly shared his faith in Jesus Christ.  He was an example to his family and his Christian brothers and sisters, especially in the KAIROS Prison Ministry.  Guadalupe and his wife Jo Ann were members of St. Matthew's Episcopal Church.  The family would like to express their gratitude for all the loving care and support given by St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, and the nurses and staff of Seton Daughters of Charity. 

The Rosary will be held at Mission Funeral Home on Tuesday at 7.30 PM. The funeral will be held at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church on Wednesday at 2.00 PM with burial at Assumption Cemetery.  Pallbearers are: George Castillo, Carlos Ruiz, Sr., Miguel Ruiz, Jr., Santos Ruiz, Jr., Steve Ryder, and Adrian Tovar.

The family has asked that memorial contributions be made to the Pastoral Care Fund of St. Matthew's Episcopal Church.
